Kate and David’s Engagement Photos - Point Reyes

Kate and David got engaged on this very beach! We really lucked out with amazing March weather for this engagement photo session in Point Reyes. A risky move but it definitely paid off. I love how much fun these guys are having in their engagement pictures, and I can't wait to take more pictures with Kate and David at their wedding in Guernville next month!

Introducing True Photo Booth

Big news! I've recently started a new photo booth rental company called True Photo Booth. It's a unique take on the event photobooth. Basically we're keeping the experience as close as possible to the classic vintage black-and-white film photo booth experience, but in a digital format that can be set up anywhere, at any event.

In my work as a wedding photographer, I've seen countless photo booths at weddings that range from a guy with a camera and a backdrop to very elaborate setups, but I've never come across a photo booth that captured the magic of the old-school film photobooths that we all know and love. That's what we're tried to recreate, from the flattering high-contrast black-and-white look of the photos to the four images on a print. It's the classic photobooth experience: simple, elegant, and timeless.

Joyce and Dan - Nestldown

Joyce and Dan were such a pleasure to work with. Their wedding was at Nestldown in Los Gatos, CA this September. This is one of the most stunning venues I've ever seen. It's the type of place where I could just wander around for an entire day and take photos even if nobody else was there. Fortunately, there were other people there, and they were all having a great time celebrating the marriage of these two amazing people.

At the end of the night, the groom gave me one of the best compliments I've ever received as a wedding photographer, and it had nothing to do with photography. He said that it was great having me around because he felt like I was a calming presence during the occasionally hectic parts of the day. It was a great reminder that working with a bride and groom on their wedding day is more than just taking great pictures.

Christian and Eve’s Wedding Photobooth

Last weekend, two great friends of mine got married. Eve and Christian tied the knot on August 25th at the Lake Temescal Beach House in Oakland, CA. I love these guys, and I'm so happy they're together. It was an fantastic wedding that captured their style and personality perfectly.

It was also the debut of my brand new portable digital photobooth, which I set up for their reception, and it was a huge success. After the wedding, I started scanning through the images and I was struck by how much it looked like a little silent movie. So I made a timelapse video from all the photobooth images and it looked pretty amazing. It also somehow perfectly synced up with the (inescapable) song "Call me Maybe" so I just went with it.

Enjoy the video, and congratulations to Eve and Christian!

The photobooth will be available for rentals in 2013. More info coming soon!

Carolyn and Trevor - San Francisco

Carolyn and Trevor were married on August 11th at the Presidio Social Club in San Francisco. Both the bride and groom currently reside in Shanghai, so the entire wedding had to be planned long distance with the help of the amazing Duncan Reyes. Family and friends came from all around the globe to be there for this very special day, and a fantastic time was had by all - including myself! These guys were a pleasure to work with, and I wish them all the best in their new life together. Congratulations Carolyn and Trevor!
